You don't rule on intent, you rule on action. You may have the intent to trip someone, but its not a flag for tripping unless you actually do it.

No, my pic is first. Look at the body positioning and the way the WR is positioned, my pic is first then VOL's pic is after mine.
The ball gives it away, look at where the ball is in both pictures and you can see that the picture I posted is slightly before VOL's picture. Its not possible for his pic to be first, the ball is at the WR's hands and head level in my pic but down by the body in the other pic.
and no, the play should have never counted. Beast put it right, I tried and butchered it. The clock should start as the ball is set, and there was not enough time to get the snap off.
Plus the fact UNC should have been penalized 15 yards instead of 5, UT has a good case to file a grievance to try and get the game overturned.
and Davie might have said "they" but there is NO doubt that Davie wanted UT to lose. He was obviously rooting against UT and made it clear
He was flagged for the rules, the rules protect the helpless WR in that position when the opponent launches himself head first at him. That's a flag all day, everyday.
The Jackson hit is clean. There is no foul there. I don't know what you are looking at but you need to look at Stripes video. It was just a good lick and the ball was never controlled inbounds.
Also Beast explaination about to many men vs. motion is wrong. You can't call motion till the ball is snapped. Nobody crossed the line of scrimmage. The called should have been 15 yards for having 12 men set at the snap. It is the greater penelty. Roger Reading head of SEC officals said the exact same thing as well as everyone all day on talk radio.
R13 logic is the rules are the rules when they hurt UT. But when they would benifit UT you need to do the right thing. The rules are plain and it is the officals job to follow them. The rule book doesn't say anything about launching and Jackson hit wasn't above the shoulders so there should have been no call. Also the rules say if 12 men are set at the snap it is a 15 yard penelty. The rules also say if the offical calls the game that is it. You can't go back and look. Those are the rules. Just the same as there is no run off rule in college if the offense commits a penelty to stop the clock. Even though that would have been the "Right thing to do".
UT got ripped off. Plain and Simple.
I dont know what football has come to when you cant hit a receiver's back with your shoulder.
And yes I understand they are trying to cut down on 'helmet to helmet' hits but this was not even close. Janzen tried to dislodge the ball by hitting the receiver with his shoulder. Thats football. If you cant do that they might as well play flag.
Night Train Lane and Jack Tatum said the samething.
Yup, they are pretty simple and they followed them, they protected a defenseless WR being hit. And post those two rules, not saying they aren't there, but I have yet to see them...the 15 yard and the ref saying it's over, they may be correct, but what's the official language with a link? They didn't call Brays blatant taunting and mocking even later in the game either.
It's just absolutely ridiculous to say that UT got ripped off. Could you tell us who had the ball and the lead with a minute and a half to go? Was there any "ripping off" when all they had to do was run the clock down? That's what I thought, UT ****ed it away before UNC even got the ball back.
Make up your mind. Was he flagged for a rule (which he didn't meet the criteria for) or was he flagged for intent?
Biggin's picture was first, after I went back and looked. It is the wrong angle though to see what makes contact first though. The end zone angle is much more accurate because you can see the full seperation. Theres the difference though, I can admit I made a mistake, you cannot.
Heres two more pictures for more clarification that it was NOT a helmet to helmet.
